THE ORIGIN
WHERE IT BEGAN
Force Horizon Coffee was founded by Chris Ambler an expedition athlete who loves being in the wild but also wanted that morale boost that quality coffee brings to an expedition.
While training for the world's toughest row - 3000miles across the Atlantic - he was working in Tanzania. Already involved in supporting the local coffee farmers, the next step just naturally fell into place! Force Horizon Expedition Coffee bought their first batch to ship to the UK
Tanzania's Kilimanjaro region is one of the world's great coffee-growing areas — volcanic soil, high altitude, and a climate that produces beans with extraordinary depth and clarity. We already knew our farmers, we had built direct relationships over the past 4 years, and brought that coffee back to the people who need it most: those who push furthest. The world's finest grade Arabica bean from 1,800m above sea level on Mt. Kilimanjaro, and the best quality Robusta bean from the foothills of Kilimanjaro. We roast and blend back in the UK to ensure the freshest coffee and maintain the flavour profiles.
THE FOUNDER
"I've rowed oceans, climbed mountains, and crossed deserts. The one thing I always wished I had was a coffee that matched the ambition of the mission. Force Horizon is that coffee."
Chris ambler
Founder & Head of Expeditions
Chris Ambler is an ocean rower, high-altitude mountaineer, and the driving force behind Force Horizon Coffee.
After completing his row of the Atlantic Ocean Chris spent six months at home building his vision, from Tanzania to your brew-kit anywhere in the world.
Force Horizon is the result — a coffee company built by adventurers, for adventurers.

The people behind the cup
MEET OUR FARMERS
Every bag of Force Horizon Coffee begins with the hands of smallholder farmers on the slopes of Kilimanjaro. We work directly with a close-knit community of growers in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania — people who have cultivated this land for generations.
Amani Moshi
Lead Grower, Moshi District
"We grow coffee the way our fathers taught us — with patience, with care, and with respect for the mountain."
Amani has farmed the same terraced slopes for over 20 years. His plots sit at 1,850m, where the cool nights and volcanic soil produce beans with exceptional clarity and sweetness.
Zawadi Kimaro
Cooperative Chair, Kilimanjaro Region
"When the buyer comes to us directly, we know our work is valued. That changes everything."
Zawadi leads a cooperative of 34 farming families. Through our direct-trade partnership, every family receives a fair premium above market rate — reinvested into education and farm infrastructure.
Baraka Lyimo
Processing Station Manager
"The cherry must be perfect before it leaves the farm. That is our standard."
Baraka oversees the wet-processing station where cherries are sorted, pulped, and dried on raised African beds. His meticulous grading ensures only the finest lots make it into every Force Horizon bag.
